What's included?
- Single Soil Acoustic Meter (SAM) (additional units can be added up to a max of three per subscription)
- 1 x detachable probes per unit
- 12 months access to data analysis portal
- Includes around 80 recordings per month
Listen to soil health across multiple sites
This subscription allows you to purchase up to three Soil Acoustic Meters and is designed to provide soil health assessment across multiple farms, estates or nature projects. By deploying up to three SAMs, teams can generate comparable datasets across locations and management systems.
Each SAM device captures the sounds of invertebrates moving and making noise within the topsoil. Measuring the amount and diversity of the sound made by worms, beetles, ants and other organisms provides a measurable indicator of biological soil health.
This package includes your SAM and one year's subscription to the data analysis and reporting portal which enables you to upload recordings and receive a benchmarked Soil Acoustic Quality Index (SAQI) score.
How do I use my SAM?
Use the SAM to compare between:
- Regenerative and traditional farming methods
- Before and after treatments
- Pre- and post- harvest
Once you have collected and updated the data to our portal, you will be able to track improvements, identify high performing areas, and focus on where you might consider land management changes to improve your soil health.
This package is particularly suited to nature recovery projects, multi-farm agriculture groups and academic research projects. Soil Acoustics is an innovative field-based method to monitor the biological health of soil.
Why Ecoacoustics?
Soil health plays a critical role in crop yields, food security, carbon sequestration and the health of the whole ecosystem. Ecoacoustics has emerged as a powerful tool for surveying and monitoring biodiversity in many habitats due to advancements in machine learning technology and the availability of low-cost programmable recorders.
